The house, and everything in it
The House
Nothing at Sinhagiri feels chosen simply to fill a space. Vintage furniture, layered textiles and collected art make rooms that feel lived in, loved, and entirely their own.
Bold, dramatic, unapologetic.
An ornate fireplace, an antique mirror, vivid walls and collected art: a room that invites you to look twice, and then a little closer.

- The gilt mirror. An arched gilt mirror over the mantel. In this room it reflects mostly red.
- The botanical prints. Two large botanical prints in matching dark frames, one either side of the chimney breast. Same frames, different flowers.
- The marble fireplace. A marble fireplace with a brass fender. Logs are stacked to the left of it.
- The small dark figure. A small seated figure in dark metal on the side table, by the right-hand sofa.
Every frame holds a detail. The walls are layered with portraits, prints and memories, giving the house a sense of history that cannot simply be recreated.
The warmest room in the house.
Quilted lattice walls the colour of old wine, a carved timber fireplace, and two deep leather armchairs drawn up to it.

- The brass camel. A brass camel, lying down at the hearth. It has the warmest spot in the house.
- The white horse head. A white horse head on the mantelshelf, under a landscape painting that runs the width of the fire.
- The carved arch. A carved timber surround, arched over the fire. The walls either side are quilted in an oxblood lattice.
- The brass kettle. A brass kettle beside the left-hand armchair.
Timber, snooker, stags.
The grandest room in the house: a honey-coloured timber ceiling, navy sofas heaped with leopard-print cushions, blue-and-white ginger jars, and a snooker table at the heart of it.

Going nowhere, at speed.
At Sinhagiri the unexpected is part of the charm. Sculpture turns up throughout the house and gardens, so an ordinary walk becomes a small journey of discovery.

A Picasso, in the cloakroom.
Even the most functional rooms keep the character of the house. This one is hung like a small gallery.

Some corners are made for lingering.
Morning light through green-framed windows, a chaise, a tiled floor. Nothing on the agenda.
Standing watch.
The lions at the entrance pavilion face each other on their plinth. There are more: on the front steps, in relief on a step, and a lion and lioness drawn large inside the house.

Another palette entirely.
Green lawns, flowering borders and open skies: a garden to wander without any particular destination in mind.
